Qatargas selects Federal Signal's integrated
communications and warning system

OAK BROOK, Ill., Oct 26, 2006 — Federal Signal Corporation (NYSE: FSS) announced today that Qatar Liquefied Gas Company Ltd. (Qatargas) has selected Federal Signal to provide a fail-safe communications and warning system for its advanced liquefied natural gas production plant in Qatar. This Federal Signal solution provides Qatargas with a customized and comprehensive array of sensing, communication and warning functionality.

“Federal Signal is an expert in engineering large-scale integrated communications and warning systems for high-profile buildings and industrial complexes,” said David R. McConnaughey, president of Federal Signal’s Safety Products Group. “Federal Signal has created one of the most advanced emergency notification systems in use in the world today for Qatargas.”

The Federal Signal system offers built-in intelligence that enables remote volume control at individual loudspeakers in hazardous locations via standard cable structure. Additionally, the system enables voice and alarm access to local and global areas of the plant facility and delivers system status and diagnostic information to remote locations over the wide area network.

“The nature of our operation and the physical size of the plant demanded a number of special features to enhance the operability and reliability of what is probably the largest single public address and general alarm (PAGA) system in the world,” said Taha Ganadi, head of telecoms at Qatargas. “Federal Signal’s state-of-the-art public address and general alarm system met the precise needs of our world-class liquefied natural gas plant in Qatar.”
