The SelectFone® Intercom and Paging System is designed for communication in industrial environments where high noise, corrosive atmospheres, hazardous areas, and extremes of temperature, dust, and humidity create hostile environments.
A SelectFone Intercom System allows operators to both broadcast instructions over the system speakers and hold conversations with two or more people. Five channel intercom systems allow five simultaneous conversations without cross-talk or interference.
Each SelectFone station features an impact resistant, Cycolac(tm) handset with a noise canceling microphone and a push-to-page button, an "Off-Hook" indicator LED, and a channel selector switch (on five-channel models).
To broadcast a message over the system loudspeakers, the operator lifts the handset from the cradle, presses the push-to-page button located in the grip of the handset and speaks into the microphone. To initiate communication, the user lifts the handset, identifies an open channel, and pages. The user releases the button and is ready for a conversation. The recipient(s) finds a convenient intercom station, selects the channel, and joins the conversation by speaking into the handset.
A SelectFone System consists of an unlimited number of SelectFone stations and loudspeakers. SelectFone stations are available in a variety of configurations to meet the facility-specific requirements. Indoor wall-mount stations, designed for use in hazardous locations, feature Type 12 enclosures and are suitable for Class I, Div. 2 applications. Outdoor wall-mount stations, designed for use in hazardous locations, are enclosed in Type 4X housings and are suitable for Class I, Div. 2 applications. Panel mount stations, designed for installation in a user-supplied panel, are suitable for indoor use. Desktop stations, suitable for office environments, feature an integrated speaker and user-adjustable volume control. The paging amplifier and power supply of the Desktop and Panel mount stations are housed in a Subset that includes the cables and connectors required for installation within ten feet of the intercom.
SelectFone Systems are easy to install, maintain, and expand. Installation is simplified by external mounting tabs, color-coded wiring, and easy-to-access terminal blocks. Line balance adjustments are made quickly and easily via the Line Balance Unit that is required in each system. The Line Balance Unit properly loads the page line and all channel line circuits. Maintenance is made easy by the modular design of the power supply and the paging amplifier, which feature a plug-in design for quick and easy replacement. Any SelectFone system can be expanded infinitely as system requirements grow. SelectFone stations are compatible with other traditionally popular systems and can be used to expand existing systems or replace faulty units. All SelectFone stations are available in either 24VDC or 120VAC operating voltages.
